New Jersey Transit Derailment

New Jersey Transit Derailment: On the evening of July 6th, yet another train in NYC derailed. This time an NJ transit train headed towards Pennsylvania Station carrying nearly 150 passengers. This is the third derailment at Penn Station in the past three months.

Passengers reported that the train rocked and then came to a sudden halt in the tunnel leading into the station. “Everyone knew what had happened immediately,” Sherif Ahmed told the New York Times. Upon initial inspection it appeared no one was hurt. About two hours after the derailment, passengers on the train were moved to a “rescue train”. This incident occurred just days before major repairs at the station are set to begin.

As these derailments continue to happen, confidence in easy and safe train travel is waning.
