A man returned to his home in New Jersey Friday night to a nasty surprise. He thought his house had been burglarized, but instead, his mortgage company had hired subcontractors to break into his house to see if it was vacant. He claims that he had been in touch with his bank for a pending mortgage modification, and that they even knew he was on vacation! His bank payments towards his mortgage were not being received but money had been taken from his card since he applied for the modification. The bank had also incorrectly determined the property vacant/abandoned.
His attorney provided evidence that proved the property was occupied while he was gone.
